Tom Brady and Drew Brees are both in the conversation for the award, but the winner here could have an edge when the votes are tallied. Both quarterbacks have at least 20 touchdown passes and rank in the top five in passer rating. Brady, however, could find more success as New Orleans ranks 16th in passing defense, while New England is sixth.
The Patriots have lost both games they have played against teams that currently have winning records (Broncos, Colts). Although the two defeats came by a total of four points, New England could use a quality victory with the playoff stretch arriving.
New England is one of two teams with a winning record left on New Orleans’ schedule. As pressure for a perfect regular season has mounted, the Saints have played several close games (last week’s blow out of the Bucs aside). The Patriots, the only team to go 16-0 in the regular season, have motivation to end the unbeaten run and keep alive their playoff aspirations.
