As pointed out by one NFL.com’s Steve Wyche, the Texans are a franchise that has seemingly been locked into mediocrity throughout their existence. They have squandered multiple opportunities to emerge from the middle of the pack this season, and now they face a desperate situation against the Jaguars to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Jacksonville went into San Francisco for the first time ever and left town with a disappointing 20-3 loss. … Houston folded down the stretch, losing 35-27 to undefeated Indianapolis.

Houston’s best pass rusher has failed to tally more than one sack in a single game this season, and he has also been unable to record a sack in successive games. He had a sack last week against the Colts, so he is due to be shutout this Sunday, but the Texans need him to reverse that trend and get after elusive Jaguars QB David Garrard.
